What Is A Guardian Home?
Being a guardian home means you get a nearly free, non-shedding, papered, dog/puppy, while “guarding” them for us and keeping them safe. They are absolutely yours, we just get them back to continue having well-rounded, precious puppies! You actually get pick of the litter when adopting a guardian pupper — the healthiest, prettiest, most even tempered puppy — because we only choose the best to include in our program. In this way we can breed exceptional dogs but don’t have a kennel where dogs are kept with no socialization or attention. It’s the best of both worlds!
Families have to be local to us — within 45-50 miles of our home in Alto, GA. We require a fenced in yard of some kind to prevent your new furry friend from running away/getting hit by cars and to keep them safe. We retain all breeding rights to the puppy until our contract is fulfilled. At the end of our breeding contract with you, your pet will be spayed/neutered and then the pupper is fully yours! This is typically after having 4-6 litters with females and around age 6-7 in males. The actual breeding contract obligation doesn’t begin until puppies reach full maturity; usually around a year and a half to two years of age depending on the gender of the dog. If the guardian dog is male, we need access to him throughout the year to be bred with our females and then returned to your home. This is usually for a few days throughout the year. If the guardian is a female puppy, we get her back — once she’s of breeding age — while she’s in heat and keep her for this two week span to be bred. She’s back with her guardian family for the duration of her pregnancy, and then brought to us a week before she’s due to stay! We always keep our babies inside our home and rest assured, she will be spoiled during this time. You are also welcome to schedule appointments to bring your children to visit mama and puppies. It’s always so much fun watching kids with tiny puppies! We advise people to schedule vacations around this time because it’s like free kenneling! Once the puppies are weaned around 7- 8 weeks of age, our guardian families come pick up their family member and return home, safe and sound. If for any reason the puppy does not fit with your family or you cannot provide care for them anymore, you can bring them back to us no problem. There is a $250 non-refundable enrollment fee to be paid before pickup to join our guardian program. We want everyone to love being a guardian home and have the most amazing experience!
